Don't Forget About Me -- Michael Bucher

MICHAEL BUCHER | DONT FORGET ABOUT ME

DON'T FORGET ABOUT ME
Lyrics and Music by Michael Bucher

I'm the one who has painted on the rock in the desert sun, I'm the one was buried with the small pox blanket on the run, I'm the one who built my burial ground for all to see never dreaming that the grave robbers prize would be me.

(Chorus) Don't forget about me I'm the voice singing in your head. Don't forget about me I told the stories that you have. Don't forget about me take notice of all they do if they do it to me who's to say they won't do it to you.

I'm the one with my heart buried at Wounded Knee, I'm the one who was tossed in the ditch of the Trail of Tears, I'm the one who was buried with my medicine bag in my hand, now my medicine bag is on some collector's stand - don't forget about me - don't forget about me.

I'm the one who has seen all the genocide first hand, they couldn't cheat me fast enough take what I had now, they built their trophy houses right on top of my grave, if they have no honor, than they have no shame. (Chorus)

Brian Francis Traveling the US Looking for...

Hondo Mesa Records recording artist, Brian Francis of the fantastic roots band, Kh'Mi, is traveling across the United States in search of... well, I'm not sure. Brian is probably sure. Below is a except from his rough draft "essay" (but really it's a burgeoning ethnography). I'll post more if you are interested.
Regards,
Dennis

I’m not here at Tom’s to drink Daiquiris'.

All day I’ve been taking the back roads across Texas: driving through a rolling ocean of grays and greens at seventy plus (the speed limit in most places). To my eyes it seemed a scrolling sea of dots flickering past,
glimpsed but not really seen.
All day I’ve been doing this and at last I’ve got as far as Lubbock, and I’m hoping to catch the second half of the game. Having little cash, Tom’s happens to be my only option, all the other places on the strip either have a steep cover or no television.
This is my reality, and presently it’s all about Tom’s.

Michael Bucher's DIRTY WATER video

Here is Michael Bucher’s DIRTY WATER music video. It was co-produced by Karla R. LaRive, founder of PK Productions, LLC, an indigenous music management and media company and Christopher Crosby of musicscreenPROductions. This video was a finalist for a 2007 Native American Music Award for Best Short Form Video.

Michael Bucher (pronounced Busher), a Cherokee singer-songwriter who was taught the stories, language and legends of his people, sings about the desecration of sacred sites, Cherokee legends and the sometimes seemingly Invisible Indian.

Michael recently released Bitter Tears – Sacred Ground, a new CD with Joanne Shenandoah on Hondo Mesa Records.
